At Kenoxis Technologies, we are committed to responsible environmental practices and sustainable development. In line with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and effective from April 1, 2023, we aim to ensure safe, ethical, and eco-friendly disposal of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste).

What is E-Waste?

E-waste refers to discarded electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and their parts that are no longer in use, including:

  • Solar photovoltaic modules, panels, and cells.

  • Devices, gadgets, and equipment listed under Schedule-I of the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.

  • Manufacturing rejects, defective units, or equipment discarded during refurbishment and repair processes.

  • Components, consumables, and spares that make an electronic product operational but are no longer functional or useful.

It is important to note that e-waste is distinct from general household waste and requires specialized handling, collection, and recycling to prevent environmental and health hazards.

Exclusions from E-Waste Rules

The following categories are not covered under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, as they fall under separate regulations:

  1. Waste Batteries – Governed by the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022.

  2. Packaging Plastics – Regulated under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.

  3. Micro Enterprises – As defined in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006.

  4. Radioactive Waste – Governed by the Atomic Energy Act, 1962 and the rules thereunder.

Roles and Responsibilities

Producer Responsibilities

As a responsible producer, Kenoxis Technologies is committed to fulfilling all obligations under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022:

  • Awareness Creation (Rule 6): We actively promote public awareness regarding e-waste handling and disposal. This is done through various communication channels including websites, media campaigns, publications, advertisements, posters, and educational materials.

  • Reduction of Hazardous Substances (Rule 16): We work towards minimizing the use of hazardous substances (such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and other restricted materials) in the manufacture of electronic products, their components, consumables, and spare parts. Every product we develop complies with the restrictions on hazardous substances as prescribed by the law.

  • Take-Back and Collection: We provide take-back and collection systems to ensure e-waste is properly channeled to authorized recyclers. Customers can return end-of-life products to our designated collection centers or through authorized partners.

Consumer Responsibilities

Consumers, both individuals and organizations, play a vital role in ensuring the safe handling of e-waste. As per the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, consumers are required to:

  • Avoid disposing of e-waste along with regular household or municipal garbage.

  • Ensure that e-waste is directed only to authorized recyclers or returned through the take-back services provided by manufacturers and recyclers.

  • Participate in awareness programs and responsibly hand over their electronic products at the end of their life cycle.

  • Preserve the environment by adopting eco-conscious practices when replacing or upgrading electronic products.

Product Labeling and Symbols

All products manufactured and sold by Kenoxis Technologies that fall under the e-waste category are clearly marked with the “Crossed-Out Wheelie Bin” symbol.

This symbol indicates that:

  • The product is classified as hazardous waste under e-waste rules.

  • The product must not be disposed of with household waste.

  • The product must be sent to authorized collection points or recyclers for safe treatment and recycling.

Why Responsible E-Waste Management Matters

Improper disposal of e-waste poses significant risks, such as:

  • Environmental Impact: Hazardous substances from e-waste can leach into soil and water, contaminating ecosystems and reducing biodiversity.

  • Human Health Hazards: Toxic metals and chemicals (e.g., mercury, lead, cadmium) can cause severe health issues including neurological disorders, respiratory problems, and organ damage when not handled properly.

  • Resource Wastage: Many valuable raw materials, including gold, silver, copper, and rare earth elements, can be recovered from e-waste if processed correctly. Improper disposal leads to permanent resource loss.

  • Climate Protection: Recycling e-waste reduces carbon emissions by lowering the need for raw material extraction and new manufacturing processes.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Kenoxis Technologies, sustainability is at the core of our operations. We:

  • Partner only with government-registered recyclers who follow scientific and environmentally safe recycling methods.

  • Invest in eco-friendly product design to reduce environmental impact during the entire lifecycle of our products.

  • Promote green awareness campaigns to encourage our customers to take part in environmentally sound practices.

  • Strive to conserve natural resources and contribute to building a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.

Call to Action

We humbly request our customers and partners to join hands with us in ensuring the responsible handling and disposal of e-waste. By following the guidelines and returning used electronic products through the proper channels, you are contributing to:

  • The conservation of precious natural resources.

  • The prevention of environmental pollution.

  • The protection of public health.

  • The preservation of our planet’s green cover for future generations.

Together, let us make a difference and build a sustainable tomorrow.
